When a person with a disability applies for a job, if needed, they can ask for technology modifications to meet their ADA needs within their disability. Technology has come a long way for the disabled population in the last ten to twenty years. With the technology available today, it has opened a whole new world for people with different abilities in the workforce. Some people have vision challenges and technology has allowed those people to see their computer monitors with technology that either makes the images and words bigger for them or some programs even speak the words on the screen to the person working on the computer. This works for people who are deaf too, they can speak into a microphone and the words will show up on their computer monitor.

Technology has also allowed people who are paralyzed from above the shoulders down to use their voice to control devices. There are electronic devices available now to give people almost complete independence. There are machines that can be installed in offices that are voice recognized to open doors for people who can not open doors independently by themselves, and give them the freedom to do things for themselves.
